"Initially they were the cheapest but every renewal I would see large increases. I realized after 2 years they were in fact overcharging me. It took over 3 months and a lot of effort and follow up on my end to get a refund. But…they screwed up the refund and I had to tell them that. Long story short after a huge and lengthy amount of time and effort we got it straightened out. Then the next renewal comes…27% increase (about $350) between all of my vehicles. When I called to ask about this their canned response was the increase was from increased mileage. This was not true and how would they know how many miles I’ve put on my vehicles? I had to wait a week for Shawn to reach out to me. He said he would reach out to underwriting and get back to me. That was 18 days ago. No response. This has been the typical theme with them. I know Shawn will not be calling me back and I will have to reach out again for another canned response."
We responded:
"Hey NT, Thanks for reaching out. The whole insurance industry including State Farm is experiencing rising rates from inflation, labor costs to fix vehicles/homes, parts/materials and medical costs rising. We are also having record claims in Minnesota on homes and cars. This is the craziest I have seen the insurance industry in my 16 years doing this. Companies are completely pulling out of Minnesota due to the amount of claims. Our office unfortunately doesn't set the rates. I’m trying to be as transparent as I can as we are having a lot of these conversations with rates going up with our current customers. We have also never had so many people calling in for quotes and to sign up as they are experiencing this with their current company. The main thing is we are trying to make sure we have all the discounts on the policies to get the best rate available. I'm not exactly sure who this is with the name of NT so if you could please give me a call at 507-282-1500 and we can take a look at your policies. Thank you for your continued support. "Went in on the first of the month and saw Laura, she was extremely pleasant to work with and explained everything with detail. She saved me almost $1600 a year on my car insurance! She was also able to lower my home owners deductible and save me even more money on that!! I was with my prior insurance company for over ten years and was exhausted from seeing my insurance increase year after year due to no fault of my own."

"Update: Shawn reached out to me personally and helped answer some of my questions, I think there was confusion on their staff regarding answering questions. I appreciate them coming back and covering ground. My original review is posted beneath. -- I've generally been happy with my coverage from Shawn Christensen's team but have been perplexed by their service recently and wouldn't recommend doing business with their team, my experience follows: Recently I saw that my rates were increasing by $200 for a six-month period. When I called the office to ask why I was suddenly increasing in rates, I was told they could see nothing in my file reflecting the change but they could reach out to their underwriting team for further information and call me back in 10 minutes. I said OK and waited for a call, nobody reached out to me. I called the office the next day and asked why nobody had reached out to me to tell me what they had found out. A different agent picked up and told me they would look into the issue and get back to me by end of day. I received no response. I called Shawn Christensen's office again today to ask whether they still wanted my business, I was able to get quotes from Progressive and Geico that were close to my old rate. A different agent told me they would reach out to their underwriting staff and get back to me within 10 minutes and I received no callback after three hours. I'm kind of surprised by the lack of agency from this agency, I'm a customer trying to renew service and they're in no rush to retain me. I'll be renewing with a different agency."

"Thanks for the feedback. Again it was nice talking with last evening to address your concerns. We can't control everything that happens in the insurance industry but we can control the customer service our office provides. I stress the importance on having people available to answer calls when you reach out and to get back in a timely manner. I always keep my personal calendar open as well to review anybody's policies to make sure we are getting all the discounts available. "This agency offered my family an auto policy and despite perfect payment record, dropped our coverage with 2 weeks notice. When we sent information to support our case, they kept us on hold over a week before enforcing the cancellation - despite the car being up to manufacturer’s standards. Be careful, we had a signed policy -completely approved and active- until they decided “not this car anymore”. No claims, no tickets, just disappointment."

"Hey Ashleigh, I appreciate the feedback. I completely get the frustration trying to insure certain Kia and Hyundia models due to the lack of theft immobilizers. I know you had stated it is up to what the manufacturer's standards are and we had explained it needs to have a push start installed to be eligible with State Farm. We had 45 days to provide documentation that a push start was installed. We never received that and that is why State Farm dropped the coverage on the car.
